Photographer's Note

Wasserkoog is the name of a small settlement located on the Peninsula of Eiderstedt in Western Schleswig-Holstein. It is an artist’s colony with remarkably well preserved houses where even a garden shed is designed to be in harmony with nature.
This shed is not only a dry locale for saving the garden tools from rust; it is a handsome woodshed that was planted in the garden. It even looks like it could be a very comfortable home. Although it looks very small there is probably enough room for a couch that turns into a comfy bed, a tiny kitchen and a desk. And maybe a place to put a composting toilet?
Remember: If you want happiness for a day - drink a bottle of wine. If you want to be happy for a month - find your self a woman. If you want to be happy for the rest of your life - make your self a garden (Chinese wisdom).

Hello Harriet,

A pretty hut of garden which seems to be patinated by the weather but that gives him a rustic side which I like much. It is into perfect harmony with the garden !!! It is true that these huts are true small houses and, for my part, that would be enough for me like second home for the holidays… A pleasant and resting photograph with a good management of the lights and contrasts, thank you Harriet.

Hi Harriet. Its my impression that a beautiful garden shed can result from either high maintenance and tidy upkeep or from allowing nature and the process of natural decay bring on its own character and feeling of once upon a time...This is the impression your photo gives me. Good thing the grass is being cut. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Harriet, Nice garden shed, it fits so well in the bg, there is even some green moss on it. And the forest behind it looks quite wild. The owners prefer just relaxing than to work in garden here, the grass is with weeds and no flower rabattes.

Hallo Harriet

Ein kleines Holzhäuschen am Waldrand, das ist sicher ganz romantisch. Solch ein Häuschen würde ich mir auch gefallen lassen, aber wir haben in Alor Star ein richtiges Haus, viel Arbeit aber rund um uns herum wachsen sehr viele Bäume, nicht gerade so viele wie in deinem Bild, aber wir haben genügend und es ist für eine Stadt sehr sehr grün. Ein sehr nettes Schatten- und Lichtspiel hast du da eingefangen, das auch gefällige Pastelltöne produziert. Guter Fotojob

Danke für deine Kritik meiner Monsun-Wolkentürme, ja das rote Boot kam genau in der richtigen Minute, da ich schliesslich auf der Fähre darauf angewiesen bin, dass alles genau in der richtigen Ecke vor sich geht.

Hier hast Du wirklich mit dem Licht gespielt - und das auf eine gekonnte Art und Weise. All diese Grüntöne sind eine Wohltat fürs Auge und dieses Garteneckchen sieht richtig verwunschen aus.

Dark and mossy logs of that shed make it part of the green garden there. Well framed shot of a cosy looking summer hideaway. Patchy sunlight adds contrasts to almost all green view.

Ha, ha, Harriet; that is a very good proverb!!
A delightful composition with the hut strongly placed in the frame, and the door slightly ajar, inviting us in. I like the sun-dappled lawn; it reminds me of all the lovely days a had in childhood.
I think a soft light filter, at about 30%, would just lift the colours a little for you.

This photo transmits a lovely and relaxing summer mood and a feeling of being near the nature. The shed looks cosy, but I think it would be a bit ascetic for a summer home without no chimney and apparently no electricity either. But in a warm summer it could well serve as a place to spend the night. Good control of light and a nice play of shadows. Thanks for your interesting note too.

As I mentioned in my last critique, we transited the Kiel Canal twice — the first time docking in Lubeck, and the second, right in Kiel and journeying to Selk — about ten days later. This scene in Schleswig-Holstein looks so familiar, it must be the harmony with nature. A most engaging note, as usual.

The green here is refreshing, it essence of late spring is perfectly captured here. What I like in most of your photos are that they are mostly of ordinary places, no monumental architecture or breathtaking landscape, yet through your POV and photos, you bring out the charming quality of all these little places.
