Photographer's Note

Seemingly all in a world of her own, this young girl is helping to shoulder the load - carrying one of the floats in one of the Semana Santa parades in Antigua Guatemala.

The facial expressions of these children are quite different in the parade. Most of the time Guatemalan children have irrepressible smiles but it is hard to get them to crack a smile in the parade. They take all of this very seriously.

I loved the way the girl's veil seemed to frame her face. It was a long shot using my 70-300 lens - focal length 160mm and I have not cropped the image. The IS lens is very good in these situations as you have to be quick and steady the camera to catch these in motion shots.

Another great one to come tomorrow!
