Photographer's Note

This very popular tourist destination is known as White Rock (Ukrainian: Bila Skelya, Russian: Belaya Skala, Crimean Tatar: Aq Qaya). It is located several kilometers northward of Bilohirsk near the village with the same name as this natural monument itself, along the opposite bank of the Biyuk Karasu (or Bolshaya Karasyovka) river. Its altitude is 325 m. The top-bottom level difference of the rock is 100 m.

Due to its unusual appearance the White Rock was a background for shooting such movies about Wild West as “The Headless Horseman” (according to the same named novel by Mayne Reid), “The Red Chief” (according to the story "The Ransom of Red Chief" by O. Henry), as well as many other films with exotic scenes of action.
