This picture has been taken almost one month ago, during a stroll through Bruges.
One of the gates around the old city, the name 'Smedepoort' in Dutch.
I find very nice different seasons to use with different picture almost on the same place.

I hope that you enjoy it.

History:
The 'Smedenpoort' is one of four remaining city gates of Bruges. The first gate dates from 1297-99, but was rebuilt in 1367-68 by the master masons and Mathias Saghen Slabbaert January. Later she was rebuilt several times. Characteristic of this port is that, like the Ezelpoort completely surrounded by water.
On the Smedenpoort is a bronze head in memory of an event in 1691. In that year the Bruges sailor Jacob Wyndekens a conspiracy to light. A certain Francois van der Straeten, Towards a Eeklo, had agreed with a small group of French soldiers to them at night the city through the Smedenpoort to smuggle. They would hide in barracks that were located near the Water House. Early in the gatekeepers, they would then overpower the gate open and give free play to a large French army in ambush in the Tillegembos was. That same day, the 26th of June 1691, the Francois van der Straeten traitor hanged, then cut off his head and that head was at an iron pin on the Smedenpoort put.

Yellow beneath the blue sky is very impressive, that beautiful gate is brilliantly depicted with an excellent composition as always.

Ces mouettes semblent bien apprécier les doux rayons de ce soleil hivernal qui créent une belle ambiance ici, notamment sur le reflet de cette bâtisse dans l'eau. Place and light very deserving and as always with you and the composition is well studied. If I may suggest, I'd have increased a bit the black in PP to make the image more incisive. But it's a matter of taste of course.

Hello John,
Although this is a stunning view, to my mind it's the delicate balance of colours that I find most appealing. The yellow of the tqwer, the rusty red bricks of the bridge and the blend of green and brown of the trees and the lawn match each other perfectly.

It looks like Spring is coming early to Bruges! Your shot is great using the reflection to create depth and balance. The shoreline on the right creates a nice lead in for the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has fine sharpness. The fine blue sky creates contrast for the yellow tower.

I wish I could live near such lovely place. Warmness of the light is very comforting. Red brick work, yellow house by the bridge surrounded by the trees, and the reflection on the water, all come together in your frame with harmony. A slight movement on the water surface creates timelessness. Your gentle eyes on the subject is also reflected on the image. I like the photo very much.

Nice picture! Actually I like a lot how you composed this shot with the canal water reflecting the turret of the castle & the orange pathway. The birds sit calmly on the side to highlight a serene scene. The colour combination is beautiful! Good work!
