Photographer's Note
While the temperature here has been a few degrees below zero Celcius the local ground has been covered with powdery snow on top of icy bumps, and I have not dared to go beyond the doorstep.
Today the snow looked different, and this pattern of prints on the slipway at noon tempted me to open my bedroom window for the first time this year. The edges of the footprints were starting to melt as I watched, though they are still just visible in the thin layer of snow that remains this evening.
Some reduction of highlights in Photoshop before cropping and downsizing.
Following Saber's comment, here's a link to show the same view when the slipway was being made in October 2007.

Hi Winifred,
A lot of footprints from men and birds, Together they form an interesting and photogenic pattern. The B&W format is perfect here!
Kind regards

Hello winifred
Birds and a human are creating an interesting pattern. With the edges of the footprints starting to melt perhaps you have already experienced the lowest temperatures of this winter season. Our media here is constantly showing below zero scenes from the Northern Hemisphere. Here we have had a lot of rain but it is still hot and humid. Tfs, Marlene

Hello Dear Winifred,
Don't you love to study the patterns made in snow, here a shallow snow, but the trajectories so well delineated. I know that England has been suffering through an unusually cold spell, and I would have thought that Scotland would have been much colder than a few degrees below freezing.
Not to play on words, but 'warmest regards,'

Hello Winifred,
Very interesting observation! Very photogenic pattern. The snow is very useful in many ways, one of them being to register what happened. My husband can know almost everything that happens surrounding our house, by the footprints on the snow, he checks it everyday ;-)
Thanks for sharing,

Hello Winifred,
I like the traces criss-crossing and going in all directions, there is a lot to study here. I very much like the way you are looking at things and choosing what to show, you always in a fine and subtle way manage to point out the important - the ice crack in this photo. Thank you.
Greetings, Mira

Hello Winifred,
this immediately makes me think of a book I bought for my husband nealry 4o years ago...A Trackers Guide to British Wildlife (not sure that is exactly the right title but near enough).Clear impressions both animal and human. I like the light on the snow which aids identification :) The snow is all gone from here although it did make a brief appearance for a short time the other day. My son and his family in Aberdeenshire are still having to cope with snow though.

Hello Winifred,
I like this composition taken from your window. The tracks along with the raised section of the pavement create interesting patterns and textures. It is a well seen composition and great result.
Kind regards,
Betty

Hi Winni,
Keep the window closed for a month yet!, WB spot on
Captured the essence of the season, pity the little birds that have to stay out in such weather.

Hi Winifred!
I like this photo: The subject is very simple, but interesting, mainly with the footsteps: A human coming from one direction, going back in another; a bird with pretty big marks, I wonder which kind of bird it is; and then a dog or a cat going in all sorts of directions!
I always like watching foot marks in the snow, which is not very often in my part of the world!
Thanks for sharing!
Warm regards.
Marie Louise.
