This picture has been taken during a visit previous year to Kinderdijk Netherlands.
My third picture out of the series of this lovely area with 19 mills very close together.

History:
The windmills of Kinderdijk were built, because there were difficulties with the drainage of the Alblasserwaard. This area was extensively mined. Through ditches and watercourses, the water drained. First there were more natural waterways, but in the end this remained only Alblas and Giessen. Originally it was the water released into the rivers (including the Lek) runs, but sounded the soil drainage, and problems arose when the river was high.
Peat can such effects be one meter per century decline, and that happened here too. The water boards should work together and so were two major drainage units.

I, unfortunately, I was only 3 days in Amsterdam, the Netherlands for the time being, left out. I am very interested in raising their water mills, once - if I succeed - I would like to see them. Specific things to the Netherlands, windmills, water-lifting devices, we have long ago, these grain-milling was used. The picture is nicely composed, the colors are very alive. This is a good shot of this fine old windmill. Your composition is nice here placing the windmill slightly off center. The canal in the foreground creates a nice border for the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness.

THE quintessential windmill picture ! Bravo ! What a brilliant composition, all the components required for a great expose of the canals and the windmills of the area. Even the wind is shown in the line of washnig !
If I were to be picky, there is a slight graininess to the colours, but that IS picky !

Hello John, A beautiful mill, no doubt in perfect working condition, it looks to me as though it is lived in, I can see washing on the line, I can also see what appears to me to be the remains of a children swing. Hallo John,

Zelf ben ik daar nooit geweest, maar
het lijkt mij daar een kleine foto-mekka.

Opvallend is de belichting, die is perfect
en de keuze om de horizon iets scheef
te laten lopen (in mijn ogen een hele
goede keuze, zo komt de molen zogenaamd
stoerder in beeld).
Ook de verdeling en kleuren zien er heel
verzorgd uit.

sensorvlekken. Zelf heb ik er ook

Hello John,

The first of all I would like to congratulate you with your accomplishment, You are the very first and probably the only one who broke the 100000 barrier. For me it is an unimaginable accomplishment. Impressive is the only word comes to my mind at this moment. It is simply admirable. I must pay my respect to you.

The windmill photographed here is still in a very good state. It is good to know that the tradition keeps on living strong. Overall atmosphere is quite peaceful. I quite like the puffy clouds in the sky, they remind me of old flemish paintings. And I see that the roof of the mill is still finished with thatch. It must be very difficult to maintain it. But from here it looks so charming. In Japan also, there used be quite a few of them left, but now very few of them can be seen today. Those farm houses with thatched roofs, they are disappearing at an alarming rate. But it's our problem.
I cannot speak for the others, but your photographs have healing effect on me. When I feel down and tired, I visit your gallery and take a good look at your photographs. It works, I feel quite at ease and refreshed afterwards. And I feel like I can keep on going again. I am certain that I am not the only one feeling this way. In the photo I see a few freshly washed laundry blowing in a gentle wind. There live a family of people with children, I see a swing to the left of the image. Different place and different life. Living in such a way is almost unimaginable from here, Tokyo.
The way the photograph is taken again reflects your personality as a person. Allowing myself to make a critique on your photographs is a pure pleasure. I thank you for sharing this image with us.

I had to comment on this beautiful photo. Gorgeous presentation with masterful clarity, color, and light management. Your POV and the framing are perfect. Those lily pads on the water tell me there are fish in that water. I can see myself throwing a frog on the lily pads and seeing what's for dinner.
