The houses on the sea-shore promanade is scaling the image and add depth to it, John.
Details of the rocks in FG are clear the every grain on them.

Hi John,

The stones are sending my eyes toward the horizon which is giving depth and perspective to the composition. The presence of the people on the beach has an effect of scale. The afternoon light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello John,
The rough stones, some of them nicely covered by weeds, make a fine foreground to this vast view. Far away on the beach is a person in a red coat, reflected nicely in the water. Although very small, this person has a tremendous importance to the composition.

Hi John. Big Stones. Yes, the stones in the foreground are the real eye-catcher. But the view goes further into the distance. Colours and light are very springlike. Boch a few weeks more, and we also have more pleasant temperatures. Overall, a beautiful and worth seeing photo. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Dear John,

What happened in Japan is truly catastrophic, beyond the control of people. The Japanese are stoic and brave people, with unbelievable work ethics. I think they will rebound and be even stronger economically.

The photograph is beautiful, but poignant in its connection to the tragedy of Japan.

In normal life we all try to avoid the stones like this, right?. Instead your shot looks very beautiful and attractive! I think it is always the merit of the photographer if he can make things less pleasant in a nice way!

Les plages du Japon qui ont été balayées par le tsunami étaient également très belles. Il faut savoir apprécier les beautés de notre planète et se dire qu'elles aussi peuvent disparaître. Il reste un peuple meurtri et courageux qui ne peut que faire notre admiration.

Hi John,
very interesting contrast of the rough nature represented by the rocks in the foreground and the sea with the houses lining up along the horizon.
Unfortunately much of the European coast is spoiles with high concret buildings damaging the view. But here they are far away and the is a lot of space so one can feel some freedom.

Above image, I am familiar with Knokke. I have been there several times when was working in Europe. I remember well the atmosphere of this beach. A very successful composition. This is my imagination, but I think that you can with your experience, knowledge, and the skill. You are able to predetermine and imagine the final result of your photo in your mind. Very large rocks contrasted by the gentle waves of the ocean waves are very inviting. It is a very lovely photograph like the others. I miss those days. Your photo makes me very nostalgic. Hi John,

A thoughtful note for Japan, a very nice sentiment. As also mentioned, the depth is well conveyed through this minimal setting. Using the rocks in the foreground as a base, the curve of the breakwater and the stretch of beachfront properties leads us with ease down into the distance. Another fine example of "less is more" to achieve a simply delightful capture along a sunny and beautiful part of the region. Not something expected from Belgium, which makes it even more interesting. Very well done! Enjoy the new week ahead.
