Photographer's Note
Dear TE Friends,
I prepared the picture in the army story museum's (Musée de l'Armée) hall presenting medieval armours. There was strong backlight in the hall, a glass window separated moreover from the armours. In the interest of the success the optic angle of the camera with „acrobatic” postures is made to need to set. He managed to prepare the picture finally without bigger reflection. I hope for it, you like the photo, according to me astonishing sight these many shining iron men. Fortunately, the war is not served already.

The Hôtel des Invalides is now home to several museums:
- The Musée de l'Armée is a large military museum located on both sides of the cour d'honneur. It covers military history from the Stone Age to the second World War. It features weapons, uniforms, maps and banners, not only from the western world, but also from countries like Turkey, China, Japan and India.
- The Musée des Plans-Reliefs or Relief maps museum displays detailed scale models of French fortresses and fortified cities, going back to the 17th century. It also boasts a large number of archives and geographical maps.
- The Musée de l'ordre de la Libération is dedicated to the liberation of France in the Second World war and to its leader, general Charles de Gaulle. It also covers the deportations and concentration camps as well as the resistance movements.
The museum's story
The Musée de l'Armée was created in 1905, by merging the Artillery Museum and the Historical Army Museum. It will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2005, with the reopening of the western wing, renovated under the ATHENA II project.
The Artillery Museum (created during the French Revolution and set in the Invalides in 1871) is, in itself, the heir of two of the most prestigious weapons collections : the collection of the "garde-meuble de la Couronne" and the Condé princes collections (Chantilly). From 1852, those two collections were placed in the Invalides, and enlarged with a series of collections coming, among others, from the Bibliothèque Nationale, the Among the most prestigious collections of the museum, one can list the "ancient weapons and armours" one (the 3rd one in the world), the "artillery scale-models" one (quite unique) and an exceptional ensemble of exhibits, from the 19th century, related to Napoléon I and the marshals of the Empire, amongst others.
The Musée de l'Armée places itself among the greatest art and military history museums in the world. Its situation, at the heart of a military purposed monument, such as the Hôtel National des Invalides, offers an exceptional aspect. There are few military museums which can offer such a variety of exhibits and cover such large chronological periods.

Hello George,
A good angle on these 'knights in shining armour', all of which are slightly different. On the whole yopu have been able to manage the exposure to good effect with no undue glare on the armour. Clarity is very good to enable us to appreciate the craftsmanship that has gone into each suit.

Hello George,
They are large insects armor-plated marvelously photographed. These empty envelopes, remain impressive. The museum of the war to the Invalids is a superb museum, thank you to point out it. Excellent image. Congratulations.

Hi George,
That's quite an army of armour. The middle one is well spotted on main focus. Harmonous brown colours. Good note.

Ciao George,
beautiful and anxious image, that remembers us the ancient wars. When I see an armor I always think about the work that the poor horse did, that had to race with that whole weight on the back! Considering the strong light of the background the result is excellent without underexposing. Compliments!
Ciao
