Photographer's Note

Ronda Museum during the afternoon break, around 6 or 7 PM. Early woken up from the holy afternoon siesta, the attendant enjoys his snack, like everybody around.

Tapear, snacking at anytime, is one of te national sports in Spain. As for me at this time of the day, it was either time for a Tinto de Verano -big glass filled with ice cubes, half red wine and half lemonade- and olives, or a scoop of homemade icecream, preferably Tocino de Cielo (egg flan) or Tutti Fruti (crystallized fruit) flavor.

Hey Luko,

I love the framing here and the general mood for the image. I think it's slightly tilted towards the left side but I might be wrong or it might be result of wide angle distortion (the columns and the wall are not perfectly parallel). However, as far as I am concerned this image does not defend itself as a standalone image but would work perfectly in a photo story. I guess it's a part of your photo story so it's a great pity we can't upload whole photo stories on Trek Earth.

Géniale cette image avec ces spirales comme 2 grands yeux à travers lesquels on regarderait la scène. Magnifique lumière aussi avec l'homme qui se détache parfaitement et avec en plus une gestuelle assez marrante.
C'est du grand art.

Hi Luko.
I wasn't sure if I liked the blurry coils at first, but have been looking at this for a while and have concluded that their shape quite suits the elements of the picture and conveys a sense of the photographer as voyeur. It might be a slightly bit tilted to the left but not critically. I like the tonal range, the perspective effect, and the gentle graduation of shade to light. Your timing was good to capture the fellow raising his snack.

Une photo qui se distingue des autres sur la page TE par son originalité. Un point de vue, un cadrage auquel on ne s'attend pas avec de grosses boucles d'anges qui tombent sur la scène comme un rideau pour l'entracte...
Pas mal les tons crémeux façon Paris-Brest...ils vont bien avec le 4h du pépé...pour moi c'est du sucré, avec un café svp!
sinon une petite remarque (il faut bien de temps en temps) sur l'horizon pas tout à fait droit et un poil perturbant. On dirait que tu t'es basé sur la verticale du mur derrière le vieux. Mais du coup le patio et le pépé ont l'air de piquer du nez vers la gauche...moi, je me serrais plutôt basé sur les colonnes qui dirigent la profondeur pour fixer l'horizon.

bonsoir luko, une symphonie dans les couleurs ocres orangées, une très belle lumière, juste ce qui me dérange c'est l'inclinaison vers la gauche au fond??

love the idea of this white and highly out of focus
spirals appearing over well balanced composition made of
numerous verticals - metaphorical contrast that could point
towards interraction between the stillness of a hot day
and boredom broken by afternoon snack... moreover, these
spirals reminded me of the same spirals one gets when
ploughing through a large ice-cream tub (vanilla) with
an ice-cream scoop: the ice-cream then curls if you just
keep scooping without making a round 'ball' that fits into
a wafer cone.
Lovely warm almost glowing colour tones... almost Tutti
Frutti, or even rum & raisins... but the most crème caramel!

tout comme les autres, j'aime bien la tonalité générale et l'ambiance qui se dégage de ta photo. En ce qui me concerne, ces spirales m'évoquent une espèce de torpeur (genre yeux hypnotisés de perso de bd) qui colle bien à l'idée de sieste et de langueur suggérée par ta note et l'attitude de cet homme.

I like the yellow tones to this shot (similar to your previous), theres a real soothing kind of feeling as the scene turns to shadow in the bottom half.

belle inspiration pour ce cadrage, à la manière d'un voyeur (dans le bon sens du terme), cette photo me fait penser a un harem, d'ou on peut voir de l'interieur vers l'exterieur mais pas le contraire.

Nice try here, Luko, but for me it's one of the few you've posted that doesn't really work. There's just no connection between those odd playful spirals and the serenity of the man with his drink. Maybe it's just a failure of my imagination. I like the gentle light, though. Regards, Ken.

there is something playful here, perhaps a child preparing for a peek-a-boo, dunno exactly, but very very cheerful for my eyes.

J'ai vu ton commentaire sur HanoÏ sur 'holik, puis je me suis promené sur tes projets, puis j'ai vu cette photo et comme je ne peux commenté là-bas, je le fais ici...

C'est pas le cadrage stérile, parfait, tout mâché (ennuyant) (je suis aussi coupable d'être ennuyant...) auquel on est habitué...Tu nous forces à nous concentrer et à analyser la scène.

Je ne suis pas surpris de que tu aimes Hanoï...je ne sais pas si tu y es encore, mais plus tu vas te perdre dans les vieux quartier, plus tu seras capable de parler français...Tu remplis le cadre de symboles et tu t'assures qu'ensemble ils racontent une histoire. Évidemment l'homme est assis, et évidemment il est assis à l'ombre. Oui, elle se tient seule ta photo...

t'avais pas le goût de faire un crop en haut? ou de recadrer? Je sais pas, cette partie avec le ciel et la caméra me grafignent les yeux...

Ça me fait rire les batailles de couleurs Nikon/Canon, comme si les couleurs des photos sortant du DSLR n'étaient pas altérées après le passage dans le tordeur photoshop...

This photo attracts attention from the first second, even as thumbnail. You gave a classic "perspective" composition a breathe of fresh air, with a foreground ornament. I really like it.
