Xong River and Blue Mountain, a photo from Vientiane, North

Photographer's Note

Surrounded by striking karst rock formation the majestic Xong flows towards the Mekong stream. During monsoon the Xong river turns into a rapid stream, but during the dry season the same river is very slow flowing. Among backpackers around the globe, the unlikely 24 hours party town Vang Vieng is famous for its Xong river as one of the best tubing locations - e.g. floating down river sitting in an old tyre.

très très belle vue sur cette rivière avec le cailloux elle est un peu à sec, avec le découpage des montagnes en fond sueprbe ensemble et panorama.

Very intricate foreground, but it does not distract from the main subject, in fact, enhances it! It is like different fingers pointing to the mountains. Superb photography!

Hi Urs. fresh air and clear horizon (unlike an enclosed fish market in S.E.A.) Excellent POV and what I am pleased about is the absence of plastic bags and other rubbish from the packaging of food and drinks. Lovely light and array of colours. regards. Klaudio.

Hello Urs,
Tubing sounds a nice relaxing pastime, though I am not sure whether it is in practice. I like the long diagonal perspective and the pleasant soft light and colours. The jagged background peaks in the hazy blue light take on a sculptured effect and make a fine focal point.

That looks like lazy Nam Xong at low tide but your composition works fine diagonally to bring it to life adding the perspective with some nice fg. The misty mountain karsts provide superb shades to the backdrop hence boosting the overall contrast. A peaceful morning shot, Well done.
