First Snow, a photo from Sor-Trondelag, South

Photographer's Note

This weekend we got the first serious snow this season, and the nature suddenly turned black and white!

November has been more warm and wet than what is normal, but the last couple of days have been cold and it is my guess this snow will stay for a while…

Seems like we will have a white Christmas this year too!

However the squirrels turned up for breakfast as usual, now in their brand new winter coats and long ear tufts!

It appears they love to play in the snow, and they are very busy hiding hazelnuts. I guess this is meant to be for later consumption, but I doubt they will find the nuts as it seems like they bury them in random all over the place!

this is graphically apealing and attractive. Now you all from the north hemisphere start posting those gorgeous winter photos. It's a pity we don't have snow in Brazil. Nicely done!

Always again the same - and always again beautiful, as your photo shows! The golden glow of sunlight here is a wonderful detail in contrast to the b/w landscape. It is said that there are people who do not like wnter at all ... ;-))

Hi Pablo,

I just love the warm light from the end of the day filtering through snow covered trees. The delicate branches, the gate, everything conveys a feeling of peace and serenity.

I wasn't in my country last year during whole winter, and this year, I think I will enjoy it more than ever. At least, your photo really inspires me to get out there.

I just saw a photo here of the first snow in Canada, and here is now the first snow in Norway. I hope it will stay up in Trøndelag for the rest of the winter! We are driving to Oslo in some weeks and I really don´t need any snow... But I must confess that this looks very beautiful, with the pale light behind and all!

The capture of the snow on the branches of the trees is an asset to the composition. The reflection of the light on the snow is enhancing the colors. The point of view is allowing me to admire the scenery. First snow in Montreal today. Have a nice day.

I see winter has come a bit early to your part of Norway.
Love how the snow clings to the trees and fence with the golden sky making the ideal backdrop to this fine image.
Back in my neck of the woods we have had a very mild Nov. after a much colder than normal Oct.

A dreamy winter photograph that makes me think what xmast once was and what it is today. Buying gifts for everybody and playing xmast music cannot be all, but that's the case in non-Christian countries like Thailand or Malaysia. You really shot a lovely picture, Thanks for sharing Well done

At the moment it keeps teaming rain, officially it is summer and I am not happy about it at the mo. I love the twist and turns from the trees, converged into snow with a lovely backlit sky in the bg.

Really a Christmas atmosphere in this very graphic composition.
The patterns created by the trees branches are an appealing arabesque, and the golden light behind enahnces the contrast and the beauty of the branches. You don't have to go far to find good subjects to photograpgh!
The squirrel in the ws looks so fat, are you not feeding it too much?

I am very tenderized by your complementary photograph, this small squirrel is really not savage and very pretty. Just snow every where in the park, branches are not cover by leaves but cover by snow at this season, golden sky reduce the desolated feel, distinct photo shooting under the dim condition, well done.

Oh yeah, First Snow. We had one already, and it's gone, but I think some will come soon.
As about squirrels - I heard that they don't remember all of hidings, but they just try to bury as much of food as possible, to find it at random later, in harsh days.
