Photographer's Note

Le vieux réverbère avait connu le bon temps des soviets.
Celui où on mettait des ampoules dans le ciel, parce que le gaz était gratuit.
Celui où les villes devaient avoir l'air riche, parce qu'on voulait être moderne.

Et puis,
la lumière s'est éteinte, les illusions aussi.
Le gaz n'arrivait plus. Il n'y avait plus personne pour changer les ampoules.
A quoi bon. la ville aussi était déserte.
Plus d'entreprise, plus de travail.

On était devenu libre. Libre dans la nuit.

The old reverberator had known the good time of the Soviets.
That time when one put bulbs in the sky, because the gas was free.
That time when the cities had to get rich air, because one wanted to be modern.

And then, the light turned off, the illusions too. The gas didn't come anymore.
There was nobody any more to change the bulbs.
Why for ? the city also was deserted.
No more factories, no more work.

One had become free. Free in the night.

J'aime beaucoup ce cadrage avec le premier plan mais ici c'est surtout cette formation nuageuse en mouvement qui son cachet à cette image.

It is a very original piece of lighting system but at the same time useless as it is. The shot is magnificent with a wonderful polarised sky and a great POV. Well done.

Ta note est excellente, comme toujours, et ta photo retient l'attention par sa composition originale avec cette "fleur de réverbères" qui semble dominer la ville. Je suis totalement fasciné par le rendu des nuages dans le ciel.Très belle photo.

J'aime beaucoup les tons chauds. Le ciel et ses nuages sont particulièrement bien exposés. Bien composé avec ce lampadaire. Sa rouille lui donne un charme supplémentaire.

Hello Bertrand,

Amusante et captivante composition. Ce lampadaire semble être une fleurs de fer qui pousse au milieu de cette cité immense. L'impression est très bonne par le contraste avec le ciel et l'importance donnée au lampadaire.

Salut Bertrand,
Une bien étrange fleur rouillée témoin d'un temps pourtant pas si lointain.
Ce genre de témoignage se trouve un peu partout dans les ex pays communistes. Etrange cette manière de garder des constructions ou des objets qui ne sont plus utilisés.
La compo est intéressante avec ce beau ciel et la ville qui s'étale au premier plan.
J'aime beaucoup les contrastes et la belle luminosité.

The very slight indication of a city at the bottom of the picture is a very good idea. The dominating cloud and that lamppost (or whatever) makes a very fine composition for this photo!

un ciel comme je les aime et qui plus est; super contrasté au polarisant. Et puis toute cette profondeur. Et aussi ce pylone qui aurait vraiment besoin d'un coup de chiffon. Une prise hypernette et exposée au top.

It's great the way the lamp pole rises above the city and spreads its "branches" like a tree into the clouds. A great idea and I like that you have included so much of the sky with those great clouds in the composition and only a small strip of the sharp city below.

Armenia is a country i really want to visit, maybe allready next year. Therefore, I think it is especially interesting to see photos from there. Very fine composition with the lights and contrast to the houses. Colors and clouds are very good also, Tfs !
