Rocking the baby, a photo from Siem Reab, West

Photographer's Note

I visited Tonle Sap Lake and the floating village Prek Toal. Here a woman is gently rocking a small child in the hammock in early morning light. The people live here all year, they rarely go to any land, the lake is their life. An awesome place to visit. a couple of thousand people live in these floating villages on the huge lake.

Hello Chris,
I like this picture a lot! It has plenty of lovely details which can be discovered one by one. The obscure hut looks nicer in this warm light and its reflection on the water adds very much to the whole composition. The mother rocking the baby is a very charming object and the little kids playing at the back of the house make the picture full of warmth despite visible poverty.

Hello Chris,
An interesting and beautifully presented daily life composition. Pleasantly lit and benefiting from some lovely reflections. Warm saturated colours and superb clarity. They may not venture far from home, but they evidently keep in touch with the outside world judging by the antenna.

Bonjour Chris,

La vie quotidienne est très simple dans cette partie du monde.Simple et compliquée à la fois car c'est un combat perpétuel avec la nature environnante qui est souvent hostile. J'aime la saturation des couleurs.

A very well taken and informative picture. This unpretentious habitation seems in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature. There is interesting detail and the composition is very well chosen. The bright colours and the still water reflection are some of the strong key elements that really make this picture. Well done.

Awesome image, really like the composition the canoe and floating house lift the image to make it that more special and lively. A fine site in which to capture so many potentially awesome photographs for sure. One more element, the water reflection looks like an oil painting, makes it a powerful moment and sublime all round with a tranquil feel. A fine effort, it's a great shot full of vibrancy. TFS

I`m not sure which I enjoy most,the original little hut or it`s reflection in the water,it`s such a colourful and interesting daily life shot with gorgeous natural colours and lovely detail.

A wonderful moment caught on photo, and well done technically on photojob. There is a fine light that adorned the scene gave a magnificent reflection on water, and the surrounding appear in a vivid colors and texture.

interesting note about the floating village. I like the symmetry of the shot with the house reflected the way it is. Cropping it like this makes it work even more so. Nice early morning light and colours too.
