Photographer's Note

Street capture of an elderly vendor at a village market in Stueng Trang, Kampong Cham. Quintessentially Khmer, the 'krama' or head scarf drew my eye, wrapped a certain way to provide protection from sun, dust, wind, cold and rain. This checked red-and-white or blue-and white cloth may be wound around heads, necks, shoulders or hips. It's uniquely Cambodian.

While it is not everyone's cuppa, I enjoy taking good pictures of people who matter to me. I am leaving and wish to have good memories and make them happy as well. This is one of them, only a brief encounter but a moment to cherish.....

Setting: 300 mm, 1/250 sec, F5.6, ISO Raw 200, 0732 hrs

The old lady seems happy to be photographed, as we can see from her smile and eyes, almost hidden in her tight head covering.
You have placed her head nicely off-centre and it is sharp against the useful but blurred b/g.

Hello abmdsudi,

Excellent photograph. The vivid clothes of the subject stand out well from the dull environment. The pattern of headscarf was/is a really popular one among traditional restaurants in Hungary as table clothes.
