Photographer's Note
These 2 men were climbing the hug Buddha statue in Kandal Province. This Buddha statue is 23 m tall. These 2 men were trying to fix something up there.
There are a lot of constructions going on over there. They are planning to build a new Buddha that is 32M tall. They have strong belief that a new God will be coming alive and will help to save lives of people in the world. A deepth belief ever in Cambodia. Everyday you can see thousand of people go there to pray and to celebrate this event.
It is tough to categorize this picture. Can anyone here recommend the category of this picture? Thanks

hi Sothy
Incredible picture. It's very impressive but also esthetic. Colors are beautifull. But where is this very big statue. I have never seen. It's not far from Phnom Penh ? South ? on the way to Takeo ?
category : decisive moment.
Have a nice day

It's an amazing capture, dominated by those powerful patterns of light and colour. Decisive moment, I think, is best. How many shorts did you take, I wonder? There seem to be endless possibilities here. Regards Kevin

Nice moment to take the picture...
I like it - it's quite interesting...
However I'm not convinced about the colour of frame - I think white could be better, but this is just a matter of personal preferences..

Sothy, this is excellent - an unusual view in an unusual spot, but perfectly timed. I like it very much. The textures framing the climbers are perfect.

Hi sothy, hope youre doing fine! :D
I go through your collections, and you've got quite impressive presentation actually.
This photo here, attracts me because it's somthign different. The featured tight cropped 2 men climbing on the statue presents the greatness of the Buddha statue in term of its size and the religion it self, at the back of the audience's mind.
Actually, i prefer to see al your work in framing. It gives a bolder look to your already beautiful photo.

DA

Belle photo, les couleurs sont superbes. Je me demande juste si un cadrage vertical n'aurait pas donné un meilleur effet. Je trouve aussi que les deux personnages sont un peu trop centrés.

Hi there Sothy!Good evening!
I like this photo a lot because it's original and a really nice capture. I like the way you captured these two men. It's almost as if they were separating the two colours. Really nice!

These men done a dangerous but beautiful climb over the statue, the image have great appeal with all these beautiful colors and geometries, compliments, I would have preferred the men in one of the sides of the image, not in the center, but this is my taste and personal opinion, still compliments.

Sothy,
This is a fantastic shot. The colors are astounding. I like how you have zoomed in on the two guys that are climbing. This shows the immensity of the buddha.
Nicely captured,

Beautiful colors in this picture. You were there at the right moment and you captured it. So the category is definitely 'decisive moments'. Congratulations. Personnally I would go for a simple white frame and a fine black hairline '3 pixels??)

Hi Sothy,
really good one, I don't see well what is it (ok, you tell it's a buddha) but I can imagine a lot of things.
Good division of the picture, good colors and textures.
Goos posture and position of the men.

The colors are beautiful here. I like how the frame is divided in half, and the detail in the statures are well captured. It looks quite abstract from this view.

Hi Sothy - this is one of those thumbnails which beg to be opened, and the large version is a delight, excellent colourful graphism, personally I would prefer a black frame, as for the category, decisive moment is suitable.

This is an excellent picture with a very good composition. The climbing men are great and I am just wondering how big the statue is. The colours are beautiful and the pattern on the right is also very nice. A nice idea would be to show on WS a full picture of the place to give us the sense of size. Well done.

Hi Sothy,
this really does give us an idea of the scale of the statue. There's a marked contrast in colour and patterns between the two halves of the image which I like. Frames are very personal but I like this one and it's got to be a Decisive moment! A fine capture and well spotted.

Hello Sothy,
Très chouette cadrage sur cette image coupée en deux par ces deux grimpeurs ! J'aime les couleurs et les lignes et formes variées. Juste l'encadrement en trop je trouve.

Stéphanie.

One shot that I missed but I can see why it was an award winner in a photo contest. A good piece of photojournalism.
Since it is a contest winner....what can I say about it....nothing except....
Great Job.

Félicitations pour le prix obtenu par cette superbe photo, Sothy !
C'est vrai qu'elle est très originale et très bien composée. J'aime ses couleurs et son graphisme et surtout la présence des grimpeurs qui semblent des fourmis.
