Hongcun is an exceptionally well preserved traditional village in the mountains in southern Anhui.

The village architecture here has developped using the principles of Feng Shui in a style of architecture called Huizhou. White walls, dark tiles and horse-head gables are other common features in this kind of traditional and very Chinese architectural style.

At the center of the village is a moon shaped pool.

This picture shows a part of the pool in the very centre of the village. Such a pool is the heart of traditional village life. It not only serves a practical purpose, it's also a cool gathering place.

I like the effect of the blue shadow approaching the edge of the pool.

Great composition with the foreground filled with large colourful shapes. The line leads the viewer's eyes towards the architecture in the distance. Truly a Feng Shui image. :-)

Hello Benny,

Yes, I recognised it from your last shot but here, the wall seems to play a much stronger part in guiding and the building is clearer in close-up.
Is that the same person who was in your last shot?
A very nicely composed photograph.
I think I like this one better.

Je crois que nous sommes dans le même quartier qu'hier . Je reconnais les maisons mais ici le bassin pousse le regard dans une belle courbe vers le sujet principal. Très beaux reflets.

Thats a beautiful blue color and a great way to fill the foreground. The curve offers great depth leading off into the old style architecture beyond. Nicely considered shot, great result.

beautiful presentation of this section of the town with the waterfront to lead-in the eyes to the local houses.I like the creative perspective with the blue sky to be a bonus to the composition.

I think I prefer this image to the last of the same place. the curve of the pool/lake makes a great lead in for the eye
