It does look like a painting with lots of atmosphere. The sombre mood created by the dark colour palette gets softened by the mist which brings about a sense of mystery.

Hello Peter,
The mist and discreet light has given the needles covering the pine tree a mysterious softness. With the assistance of a good photographer the forest has become like a work of art, indeed the painting you refer to.
