Photographer's Note
A kid contemplating the Forbidden City. I found a bit of myself in this kid who looks fascinated, as I found this place fantastic by its atmosphere full of history and its incredible architecture. Surely my favourite place in China.

i like the picture, i like the way you caputerd the boy with the Forbidden City in the background, however I am not sure whether the boy should be in the middle, but... it works here, well captured.

Very good shot, the warm lighting is fantastic, your DOF is appropriate, and the child's pose is meaningful. My own regret is that you didn't cut the lower part : just try this it will make your picture even more direct and powerful.

Nice shot, agreed with Luko, It'd be better if you cut the lower part.
Not sure if the boy is in the right position, it'd be better as well? Anyway, nice composition & well done.

great picture, I was in Beijing three years ago. It is a great museum GU GONG and the amount of effort in making the palace is just unimagineable.

Congratulations! This is a very clever way to introduce the Forbidden City...

Great picture and great title! As the boy is looking to the left, I think it would be worth a try to crop the picture somewhat to the right of the boy, resulting in a picture where the boy is in the lower right corner of the photo.

This picture is just unique and so powerful. So many times, I walked in Beijing and wished I had a camera instead of my eyes to "immortalize" every fascinating instant or detail, especially people. You just did it! Chinese kids and elderly people are my favorite photo-subjects and taking them spontaniously without calculating the right angles or whatever is the best way to capture the daily scenes in China. It conveys emotion et intensity. I love the boy's jacket. A timeless masterpiece!

Wonderful composition. The muted and hazy background makes the boy stands out nicely. I've been to the Forbidden City last year and I agree with you, it's an incredible place.

Very good shot. Nice posture of the boy, really nice DOF and just very appealing in general. I kind of wish the boy was more to the right, but it certainly works as is.

Hey Pingu,
Wished you were "Pu Yi" the "Last Emperor" huh! Who wouldn't be in this ancient palace, well I don't want to be thrown out either...immense palace, deep in history.
Interesting POV, strong character of subject, this is a reflective capture dude!
