Photographer's Note
Early morning on the shore of the West Lake.
Thanks for the workshop, Darren. I had already applied Neat Image to the original but not with much intensity because of the foreground complication. Learning about your technique of using two layers is particularly helpful.

Very atmospheric shot Martin. The background lit by the early sunlight works perfectly for the silhouette of your subject and its shadow completing the composition. Good work!

This is really excellent Martin. The hazy morning light looks really great here, and your composition is excellent. The scan is a little bit noisy, but in this case, it doesn't really detract anyways. Nice work.
I have posted a workshop as well.

This really describes the Tai Chi; soft, calm, relaxing.....
Great shot, and + to have found a spot like this. To search out places and locations that are interesting and then use the eye for motives are one very important feature for a photographer.... (I think).
By the way I prefer the WS because of less noise. Supports the dreamy feel...

Nice silhouette on this pale green and blue environment. It does reflect the calm atmosphere, perfect for Tai Chi. The WS by Darren is good, I like the way he did not apply NeatImage on the entire photo, I was looking for that kind of process. Maybe a little tilt of the horizon ?

Lovely soft feel in both the original and workshop versions. Well presented and a nice feel of rural China.

Great picture! Needs some sharpening but maybe that would disturb the mood of the picture.

This is great and feels like a warm welcome to the morning sun. subdued colors are excellent.
Technical flaws such as graininess, flare on the shadow are only indications from your scanner tech limits or from the neg/slide aging (1985!!!), surely not of this shot.

Martin, you made a great shot here by capturing a typical asian scene (I suppose...) in a great misty atmosphere which enable to emphasize on the calmness. Smael is right : it's perfect for Tai Chi.
The tones are really smooth, the light great and the composition too especially with a wide space in font of the woman (?) which conveys a feeling of space. I do like too the shadow which may balance better the scene.
Great shot if I ignore the noise !
