Photographer's Note
This was taken looking down from the Peace Hotel at crowds in Nanjing Road celebrating on the evening before the opening of the National Games in Shanghai in 1983.
I have used levels adjustment and contrast masking.

Everything is more than perfect in this shot. One of my very-very favorites...

Gorgeous! What an abstract imagery... These swirls of people appear like they are momentarily recreating the body of a fleeting dragon. The thumbnail, on the otherhand, looks like a macro shot of flame :).

Actally, I thought it was ruddy water with a sail on the thumbnail. This is so good, must be a slow shutterspeed of less than 1/30 s? The flow of the throng is great!

Really amazing. A picture quite abstract at the first sight, but if we look closer, a lot of details appear. A static picture, but we can feel the movement of the crowd. Sure, one of my favorite.

wow, this is incredible, at the first sight I had no idea what the picture presents... people, so many people, like ants.. human paths... great picture!

Incredible capture of a crowd. It's a very good idea to take it like from the top with a slow exposure. It shows some similarities with wind testing of plane wings for example. Fantastic shot!
