Ooo, this is such a great shot! I think you will have some more fans by this shot! Composition, the people's figures, colours, all are nice. Yes, Japan is also one of the mobile paradise. Everybody texting on mobiles at any time, any where, just crazy.. Yea..Save the phone number list in somewhere else otherwise,..you know what will happen. I washed mine in a washing machine twice.

Hello Peter!
Thiis is a super shot, a genuine cinematic freeze frame such as I really like, a sort of casual, non-violent Chinese "Reservoir Dogs". The lighting is subtle and very well handled.
Great stuff!

A wonderfully captured sign of the times! Each person appears to be in their own world: completely unaware of you and the others next to them.

Hello Peter,
I'm interested where the picture was taken -at the bus stop, open air pub or near the building where they work? My curiosity is related to a certain detail - one men is sitting on the chair. Generally they look like having a break. The fourth of men wearing jeans does not fit to the rest since he does not look like buisnessman :)Did they notice you were taking a picture of them?
Thank you for the picture and your responses in advance.
with greetings

Hi Peter. Nice shot, funny how people are so addicted to mobile phones... personally, I dislike them. the man sitting on the other man's lap adds a a lot of humor and light-heartedness to the photo. nice job with the light and little bits of shadows as well.

Good, photo well composed, tehnically superb.
But something else is to me most important on this photo.
That is contrast beetween supermodern up to date mobile technology in their hands and wals in background that seems to be "out of date" old and damaged.
Good work

God capture of this reality. What struck me most when I was in the States is that NOBODY had cellphones. Ok, maybe SOME people did but compared to Seoul, NOBODY did. Here as you know even 11 year olds have 800 dollar cell phones. Why? Who knows why kids that young need them. Great observation of this mania as you say. I also have fallen into it. I cant imagine NOT having my cellphone with me.

This is truely a bad habit! I am living in China and it just never stops, meetings, weddings, even funerals, nothing escapes from the mobile phones. People that earn less than 100USD per month are buying new phones of over 500USD, it's mad!
I guess one reason is because the landline network is almost non-existing, and they even have "mobile" phones that are actually just normal "house" phones. Local number, only to be used in 1 city, but SMS is still possible.
China is on the move!
For the picture; very nice every day shot. Well captured

Hi Peter
I refuse to get one! ;-) Honestly, I find it a form of slavery...
Wonderful shot, great capture, maybe there should be a mobile phone category on TE, as Francis also has had a funny posted not long ago with Japanese girls obsessed by telephone cameras.
Great slice of life captured here,

This is a wonderful shot, Peter - one of the best you have posted. It is a fabulous capture of the addiction to the mobile phone but what really makes this shot is the strange 'coupling' of the two people on the right (I can't quite work out whether the one wearing jeans is a man or woman). They give the whiole composition quite a bizarre feel to it. Great framing, exposure and DOF. Well done. Cheers . . . David

Hello. Terrific shot. You've caught a perfect moment. I love how the men are in very different but complimentary poses. Good handling of light too.
