Photographer's Note

Just came from "Gangasagar Fair",which is one of my favorite place.
Gangasagar Mela is the largest fair celebrated in West Bengal. This fair is held where the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal form a nexus. Hence the name Gangasagar Mela. The river Ganga which originates in the Gangotri glacier in the snow clad Himalayas, descends down the mountains, reaches the plains at Haridwar, flows through ancient pilgrimage sites such as Benares and Prayag, and drains into the Bay of Bengal. Sagar Island, at the mouth of the river Hooghly in Bengal where the Ganga breaks up into hundreds of streams, and drains into the sea, is honored as a pilgrimage site.
A dip in the ocean, where the Ganga drains into the sea is considered to be of great religious significance particularly on the Makara Sankranti day when the sun makes a transition to Capricorn from Sagittarius and this town becomes home to vast fairs, drawing visitors and recluses from all over the state. There is a common belief among the locals that the girls who take the holy dip get handsome grooms and the boys get beautiful brides. When they are done with the ritual obligations, they head towards the Kapilmuni Temple situated nearby, to worship the deity as a mark of respect.

Hello Subir! I might need such a dip too :))) What a beautiful aesthetic photo. I mean her hair is amazing and how her body hides behind the white cloth and that you can see her arms a little shining through the white. Simply wonderful, she is an angel and I wonder how she looked but this remains a secret forever and makes the picture work. GREAT, I love it. Best regards, Barbara.

What a good one! Just the hair on the other side of the linen and the rest by transparency. Just great !
Just regret (a little bit) that the frame is a little too large and accordingly the image a bit too small

Subir, when I looked at the thumbnail I was upset thinking you are posting a studio shot with some model and felt that was a violation for TreakEarth. But to my surprise, you have taken this at Gangasager... I don't have words for this piece of ART.

A beautiful photo.
The lady is so graceful, the movement of her arms is great.
The way she is hidden behind the white sheet creates a special atmosphere, quite hypnotic.

Baba re ki sab chabi boss.
You spotted it so brilliantly and timing is just perfect and sweet.
There is a dreamy effect and the white base is so soothing to eyes. The basic strength in this shot lies in the obscurity of her body lines and the overall color. A dream shot.
Only one thing,I like to see more portion at bottom....anyway it is a great shot.
Bravo compact man.
