WITH THE INSPIRATION OF LOTS OF TREKEARTH FRIENDS I BOUGHT A DIGITAL CAMERA..I SAW WONDERFUL PHOTOGRAPHS WITH DIGI-CAM ,IN THIS BEAUTIFUL SITE BY THE MEMBERS,IT ENCOURAGE ME A LOT TO BUY IT. I JUST CAME FROM GANGASAGAR,IT WAS THE FIRST TRIP WITH MY NEW CAMERA.
IN THIS PHOTO THE SANDHU(HOLY MEN)ARE PREPARE THEMSELVES WITH THEIR TYPICAL MAKE –UP AT THE BEACH ON THE EVE OF THIS FAIR.
Gangasagar Mela is the largest fair celebrated in West Bengal(INDIA). This fair is held where the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal form a nexus. Hence the name Gangasagar Mela. This festival is celebrated during January every year and is a major attraction for millions of piligrams from all over India.
The pilgrims come for a holy dip on Makar Sankranti (last day of the Bengali Month) Negha -Mid January. They take dips in the Ganges and offer water to the Sun God. The dip, as they say, purifies their 'self' and according to them, 'punya' can be obtained thus. When they are done with the ritual obligations, they head towards the Kapilmuni Temple situated nearby, to worship the deity as a mark of respect.

Hi Subir,
Congratulations on your new camera. You surely have the talent to make best use of it. Excellent photo straightaway. Good POV with the sadhu applying the tilak and the rows of pilgrims in the BG. But the lady on the left is a bit distracting.

Which camera is it? Try including the Exif Data which comes automatically with a Digicam photo.

What a clarity you have achieved with your new digicam....A beautiful religious picture postcard photograph of the ganga sagar festival..

U have enhanced the quality of you image by miles and i can actually give you a twenty points on this...

Quite good...a real couple of characters and great to capture them in the act instead of a straight ahead pose. I"m sure it was a crummy sky but I think the whole thing is a bit overexposed as well. Great potential in this one

Congratulations on your new camera...with your talent, as Sabyasachi as already said, I'm sure you'll get great results. This is an excellent one, a closeup in a diagonal, with the rows of pilgrims in the far BG. The half of the lady on the left is a bit of a problem...try cloning her out
