Just came from GANGASAGAR MELA.Shooting in Gangasagar mela is a wonderful experience to me...Near about half milion colorful people from all over India....
Gangasagar Mela is the largest fair celebrated in West Bengal(INDIA). This fair is held where the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal form a nexus. Hence the name Gangasagar Mela. This festival is celebrated during January every year and is a major attraction for millions of piligrams from all over India.
The pilgrims come for a holy dip on Makar Sankranti (last day of the Bengali Month) Negha -Mid January. They take dips in the Ganges and offer water to the Sun God. The dip, as they say, purifies their 'self' and according to them, 'punya' can be obtained thus. When they are done with the ritual obligations, they head towards the Kapilmuni Temple situated nearby, to worship the deity as a mark of respect.

subir, the compostion is great, the timing excellent, the frozen water superb, the colours and details super sharp. WHY oh why that horrible copyright throughout the frame!!!

It is wonderful picture - dynamic and well exposed. In fact it is so good that it does not need the embellishment of special framing. And wish you had avoided your insignia there. It is taking away from your delightful upload.

hello Subir,

that is wonderful. Everything is so nice in it. The expressions, the droplets of water - lovely timing. BUT, I don't like those copyright info at the middle. I understand that many of the photographs are being used without prior information/permission to the photographers, but this completely destroys the beauty of the photo.

this one is ceratinly better than the previous one of the bathing sadhus. and rightly, the copyright sign is a good idea.
i am preparing a sign now for myself. no matter what people say, this might perhaps keep some of the thieves away.

This is a superb shot! The timing and PoV with the girl like appearing from the water droplets.

Would you have the image with the uncropped water coming from his hair?

Very sharp with good color. Great timing to freeze the action. The copyright is a bit annoying but I understand with the amount of images being stolen these days. It is crazy to think someone would want to steal an 800*600 under 200dpi image but I guess people do. Anyhow nice comp. Well done.

excellent timing colour and pov. this is certainly better than the previous one.
regarding the copyright signature, what is its use? it can be easily removed digitally. TE already gives a copyright notice.

Hi Subir,
In the thumbnail it appears as if the tiny lady has come out from the great splash...and the sadhu's hair looks as he is posing for any shock pveventing switch company.

I agree with everlasting. Your picture is great. A wonderful scenery of the three persons. Great colours and good light. But even I hate that horrible copyright on the middle of your image. Many of us know how it is with the pics stolen and used for publicity. But should we all put the copyright this way ... I hope not. Nevertheless a big green smile for this wonderful image,

I think this one is the best among your Sadhu shots so far. Composition wise, this is brilliant. I love the frozen water droplets, they're great. I can understand your fear of losing rights of your photo, but the copyright caption is so distracting to the shot. Even if you write it, somebody can clone it out.

An exquisite post Subir. The timing is superb with the waterdrops frozen well. The lady in the BG is so well positioned with relation with the water, it seems she's swirling up with the upward moving water drops. Stunning!

Except the very big signature of copyright in the middle of the image, that I don't like at all, I find the picture funny, specially because the woman in the back seems to be a genie shooting out from the water, and for the man in front, with the satisfaction on his face, it seems that his wishes are fullfilled! Well done!
