Hello Arnab,
I actually love the grain, which made the picture look so old. The Handycam did a good job with the grain IMO. The point of view can be made better. A slight lower POV would produce nice silhouette of the front Boat and the Boy. However I like the other small boat in the distance a lot. That part almost looking like a water color.

Hello Arnab!
Welcome to TrekEarth and what a great shot to start off with! The composition is great and the photo feels really moody. It's a shame the picture quality isn't great, but it doesn't stop this great shot.
Best wishes. Lewis.

Forget the grain it enhances the picture. Good composition and content. Well done !

Hi Arnab,
Welcome to TE!
A brilliant picture. I love the grain in this picture, it looks very much like the Ilford and Kodak 1600 B&W film. Good contrast and composition. Excellent first post.

the shadows, tones and the composition is very nice, can't stop thinking what a great picture this would be with a decent camera or settings.

Looks like a painting.. nevermind about the grain... when u shoot with a handy cam for a still photograph actually we should not consider about the technical details..
so i am just concentrating about the composition here.. simply said . i love it,great work and keep going.

Wow, well, let me welcome you! If this is the standard you will be reaching ob every post, then I have to keep my eye out for your photos. Marvelous. Just fantastic. The grain is gorgeous. It gives such a beautiful texture to the cloudy sky. So organic and natural. Why are you sorry? The grain here MAKES this photo.

Hi Arnab,
Yes, I agree with Arindam. Grain is something I did not appreciate before I joined this forum. I feel it suits your picture well and adds to its mystery.
Nice detail of the boat in the background and fading horizon.
Great first post...I see you will be making good progress on this site.

This is an absolutely fantastic composition Arnab - it looks like an art print -very nice texture and tone - I would probably like it even more but for what looks like the halo effects of oversharpening - if you look at my pictures from India you will see that I also took some pics with a very poor quality photo facility on an S-VHS video camera - it's a shame to miss some aspects of quality but they are also interesting to me bacause they were taken with what's available....it's still the moment that counts more for me - you caught this moment so well - it is a wonderful subject to make an arts print from have a look at Peter Miller's work from Japan

hi Arnab
simply timeless!!! the grain makes this one totally enigmatic... looks almost like a spray painting... Ansel Adams would love this one...
so this was taken at Kolaghat on the banks of Rupnarayan... remember visiting Kolaghat during Kharagpur times... aha!!! those were the days...

Bonjour Arnab,

Hi Arnab.
Well done with the black and white and also a good composition and atmosphere... but the grain is really a problem.
I hope you don't mind.
Why no more photos?
Regards.

Excellent composition, and a good B&W image. the grain is strong, but even with a high ISO B&W film the final prints often come out quite grainy. Anyway, it's not a problem for me as the overall image is excellent.

Hi Arnab,
I really feel sorry that I missed this one early. This an extremely wonderful shot. To me the grains are the beauty here. I agree with somnath that it looks like a painting. Wonderful effect here. But I would like to see more from you.
Best regards
sayan
