Photographer's Note
Vidyasagar Setu, commonly known as Second Hooghly Bridge, is a bridge between twin cities – Kolkata and Howrah. The ‘First’ bridge is obviously the famous Howrah Bridge (official name – Rabindra Setu).
Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar (1820-1892) was a great academic, writer and reformist.
This ‘Setu’ or Bridge, the newest suspension bridge over Hooghly River, is among the longest cable- bridges in Asia.
It took 14 years to complete this 800+ m. long construction and was inaugurated on 10th. October, 1992. The 115 ft. wide bridge is supported by 121 wire cables on four pylons, on a foundation that is about 328 feet deep. With its 9 lanes of traffic routes, it is capable of handling more than 85,000 vehicles a day.

Hi Alekhya,
Impressive construction, and a great place to shoot from, showing its design really well. I love that you included the two ships two, as I know how big those ships are, I can easily now understand the immense scale of the bridge.
Great to have the partial reflection of the pylon in the waters too!
All the best

Hello Alekhya,
Beautiful shot of the 2nd Hooghly bridge.
Like your low POV from which I think a bridge looks best.
Excellent DOF...I can clearly make out the Avani Riverside Mall on the Howrah side.
Superb light and good natural colors. The big red ship contributes a lot with its bright color. Besh bhalo chobi.
Thanks for sharing.

Subho

Hi Alekhya,
Superb view up to the long modern bridge. The panoramic arrangement is very good and the light reflections excellent. You have placed the ship nicely to the side, this creating very good balance and harmony. Well done.

Ciao Alekhya
Romano

Hello Alekhya,
I have only seen this bridge on the maps, never with my own eyes. It's a very elegant piece of engineering but doesn't quite have the character of the old Howrah Bridge. It's probably much more efficient anyway. You shot this from a very good POV and used the tree well to increase the feeling of depth. The red and blue lines of the passing boats are nice details.
Kind regards,
Gert

Namaste Alekhya
Good work, the way the fresh morning light falls onto the scene as the spanning bridge grabs attention with vivid red holds the focus in so firmly and balances the framing superbly. Compo and pov indeed look great, excellent depth, wide dof, and beautifully coloured. Excellent shot and intrigue in this. Congrats
Best regards
