Boys in Shalimar bagh, a photo from Jammu and Kashmir, North

Photographer's Note

I talked with these Kashmiri boys and asked them to pose. They were taking pictures also in the garden. Shalimar bagh covers an area of 12.4 hectares built with a size of 587 metres length on the main axis channel and with a total width of 251 metres. The garden has three terraces fitted with fountains and with chinar (sycamore) tree-lined vistas. The Shahnahar is the main feeder channel to all the terraces. Each one of the three terraces has a specific role.
The gardens were the inspiration for other gardens of the same name, notably the Shalimar bagh in Delhi built in 1653 and Shalimar gardens in Lahore built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1641. Source : wiki

The boys are posing nicely but look very serious. It's the boy playing in the fountain that entirely steals the show. He is just having fun and makes me smile too. In fact he makes the entire photo seem more relaxed.

The boys in the fg look so serious but the boy in the bg smiling and enjoying the fountain and pool steals the show. The yellow and blue T shirts add a nice warm cold colour contrast. Tfs!

this is a fun shot, all made by the boy in the bg. He is so different compared to all the boys in the fg. He is having lots of fun :) I get the feeling the boy in the bg really shouldn't be walking around in the water like that haha..good post taken many years ago...now perhaps they're married. cheers
