Shehr e khaas, a photo from Jammu and Kashmir, North

Photographer's Note

Old Srinagar popularly known as Shehr-e-Khaas, is the largest and the most densely populated area of Srinagar. The city is located at an elevation of 1585 m above the mean sea level. The area is mostly located on the banks of Jhelum river about 5 km from city center. It is considered as the core point in the city as the first inhabitants of Srinagar lived there. The historical buildings and monuments found in the area reflect the design of old times. The residential homes are depicted to be constructed from late-19th century to early-20th century. The area was settled more than 2000 years ago in 3rd century BC by Raja Pravarsena. Source : wiki

Very resemble to European influence on the architecture style of the houses, Miguel, the green shrine is different, of course.
A bit pity you could not include the whole green shrine building on the picture.

Hello Miguel,
It's a very nice view of the houses and the peculiar mosque by the river. You could have turned the camera a little bit more to the right to include the entire mosque, but then you would have lost some of the colourful draperies on the left side. Most important is that what we see is well exposed and the colours fine.

Hello Miguel,

I was fascinated to study this shot, with the varied buildings and coloured canopies leading, along with the river, towards the green topped mosque. The ghat is strongly placed.
Like others, I find it sad that you weren't able to include the whole of the building.
You have, though used a nice angled shot for a pleasing composition.

The angled pov adds dynamism and the river and riverbank provide linear perspective. Good sharpness and nice reflections. The green roofed temple at right gives a focal point. Tfs!

very attractive visually spot with old stylish architecture culminating in the green roof structure in the distance.
A bit pity that you didn't show more of it, a bit wider and it feels a bit tilted, but I understand it is an archival photo and it is so easy to judge but impossible to go back.

so much history here, and it all starts with the architecture, those are some pretty amazing looking buildings. I'd love to see the interiors. They have a look of abandonement as well.
