An Evening in Calcutta - V : This is the fifth image from this new series. In this shot you can see a young couple walking into the frame holding each others hands on Lindsay Street in Central Calcutta during the busy shopping hours in the evening.The area is filled with shops selling garments and footwears.It is also bustling with activities in the evening hours and you can get to see a multitude of people from all ages thronging this area during this time for their shopping.This is one of the oldest shopping areas in Calcutta ,although many new shopping complexes and malls have been built across Calcutta over the last twenty years.

One knows a great foto when it gives you the reaction, "I wish I had taken that!" All of your "Evening in Calcutta" series has provoked that reaction in me. Of course, I cannot take pictures of an evening in Calcutta -- but your series has inspired me to take my camera into the brightest parts of Austin nightlife and take some fotos!

Hi Farhat,

Yes, more of the "hustle a& bustle" of city life...love it! Great sense of life..the cars, people, shops, etc., all combined for an upbeat and fast paced image. I'm guessing this was a hand held shot?? Looks very good once again, a lot of color and light to grasp the atmosphere of the streets...I get the sensation of standing there myself watching the world go by. :) Thanks for sharing another look at a side of life from a locals perspective. Looks as the city never goe's to sleep... Vibrant and colorful.
A bit of bulbs-glare, not a grand issue - but easily can be solved with a higher F number set. My humble advise.

Hello Farhat,

Again a very good night shot, capturing very well the movement in the city. I think that this is the one I like most in the series, specially because of the wider FoV, which gives the idea of just being there.

You managed the exposure very well, too.

I like very much how you've placed the couple in the foreground. Amid all the elements, details and kinds of movement, they stand out at a clear spot as 3D. I also like their closeness and coordinated movement and how they seem to be relaxed, looking around them. It's like the picture is about them and their night out in Calcutta. There's remarkable clarity in the rather chaotic and lively environment, the colours have retained their naturalness in the aggressive artificial lighting. Superb work, congratulations and thank you!

The length of the street is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the activities on this busy street of Calcutta. I am wondering what would be the result if you had used an higher ISO. Have a nice day.

P.S. I note that you have some problems with strong light from signs etc. To avoid that it is often better to take "night" shot just when it is getting dark and not too dark.

A nice image of the real and daily life in a city street, in this case at night.
The street has a nice bright perspective to all those people who gives much joy to the image, cars and people, walking the same place seems to have a certain risk for pedestrians.

I like this shot for a few reasons: 1) Although it is a night shot with people and cars in motion, it is surprisingly sharp. 2) It has cars. 3) Its name spells Calcutta the way I learned to spell it.
