Living By The Sea : This is another image captured on the first of January this year at Digha.Two labourers are walking by the seaside on the ramp carrying stones to bolster the seaside embankment.Digha is a pleasant seaside tourist spot about 170 km from Calcutta.Ideal place for a weekend.Lots of fresh fishes here for those who love fish gourmets.

Salam Farhat. When I look at the stones already forming the embankment and the number of stones the men carry, I wonder how many hours and how many humans it took to construct the barrier. And then i wonder how little they earned at the end of the day, tired and hungry. Of course the image is nicely constructed. All the best. Klaudio.

Hello Farhat,

What is immediately noticeable is your fine sense of composition; the figures are strongly positioned, walking into the space at an angle, so we look up to them, set very clearly against the clear, blue sky.

It is a most interesting subject. In this era of mechanisation, to see men carrying heavy loads on their heads is surely a photograph to value, for it may not happen for much longer.

Hello Farhat,
A very nicely composed, well balanced photo with attractive colours. By "well balanced" I mean not just that the men balance their heavy loads nicely on their heads, but also how you have placed them off-centre, walking along the diagonal created by the narrow path. They don't look happy, but whether they don't like your camera or they don't like their work I can't tell.

You have captured the poverty well. With improvement in the garments being manufactured, nowadays, the facial expressions are a better indicator of economic fortunes (or misfortunes).

A good human interest shot and also a very efficient crop that puts the focus on these men working hard and carrying heavy loads. I can't imagine the income they get for doing this job but man's life can indeed be tough. Good contrast of their colorful cloth with the blue sky and sea. Well done.

a very fine composition, you've used the perspective, the movement and the contrasting backdrop in an excellent way. The firmness of the short perspective and the sense of movement have been combined exquisitely, you made the two gentlemen look very elegant in this frame.
