Photographer's Note

The Boat in the Lake : One more image in the black and white format.It is a country boat being used by local tourists from Birbhum for a round in the Dubrajpur Lake.The lake is being used for water supply to the nearby Bakreshwar Thermal Power-station.The lake is also being thronged by various outside migratory birds in the winter season.It was a rainy day with not much color in the overcast sky and the shot was taken from the embankment.

I would like to thank all my friends on Trekearth,who have been a great source of inspiration and energy to me for my association with TE during the last two years.Thanks for all the encouragement and words of advice and suggestions,which has helped me to improve my sense of photography.

Beautiful river scenery and good choice in using black and white for this well composed image, it adds to the mood of the photograph. The boat is carefully positioned in the frame and the far shore creates plenty of visual interest. I especially like how the backround fades into distance. A pleasure to view.

Hello Farhat,
An image with a very ethereal feeling about it. Partly due to the misty atmosphere, partly due to your careful control over depth of field and partly due to the use of black and white as the medium. Well composed with the focal point offered by the boat placed just so. I find it very appealing.

This is such a peaceful image, a great sense of calm and a perfect composition. The black and white conversion has been done is a very delicate and artistic way. I could image this image framed on a wall quite easily.

B&W format works well to thsi difficult light condition taken the picture, Farhat.
Yet, the river scenery is "diminishing" onto the far side bank towards the mist, only few trees pop out from the distant side.
Men on the boat in their appearence compensate a bit on the image.

PS: In reference to my Sotcher Lake image, one photographic technique learned from photography classes is to 'zoom in' showing a subject up close. It is not necessary to show vast scenes including sky. Sometimes the up close scene stimulates curiosity, of what exists beyond?

with this one you have reached your second anniversary on the site. Though a bit late, congratulations!
The B&W treatment gives a strong character to this image, you've managed exquisitely the depth field, and by this way we can see all the details of the boat and its crew, in a sharp foreground, while the foggy landscape in background completes a nice composition.

It's been a while since I looked at your work but when opened your gallery this image stood out immediately. A fantastic black and white. the boat is perfectly placed and the graded shift form dark to subtle greys as your eye travels up the shot is fantastic giving a real sense of depth.

A well compsed monochrome image with all the background in the mist (so light grey)contrasting with the dark boat and the profiles of the man inside it. this boat is well place in the framing.
