Photographer's Note

Another photo taken in the old centre of Rajkot. Rajkot is one of the biggest and also one of the fastest growing cities in Gujarat. Founded in the 17th century, it has played an important role in the Indian Independence Movement.
Like in most part of the state, western tourists are not so common here. It's also difficult to find souvenirs here, as practically everything they have to sell is for locals, something that makes these places so special to me.

Hi Ana. i can see a few elegant women behind the motorcyclist, but his gaze is of greater interest and begs the question what is he thinking as he watches you taking the photo. The fellow closest to the camera has a friendly expression by contrast. Colourful shot, you used the balloons well to guide us into the street. Regards. Klaudio.

Imagem lindamente colorida! A composição ficou ótima, com os balões fazendo praticamente um triângulo, fazendo a cena ficar mais chamativa. A Índia parece ser um lugar muito colorido. Interessante ver as pessoas no seu cotidiano. Obrigada por compartilhar.

Hello Ana,
This is a good and extremely colourful snapshot, even for being India. The balloon seller poses proudly but my eyes are drawn to the man on the motor-bike looking at you with somewhat suspicious eyes. I was in Rajkot in 1985 and found it refreshingly clean and modern and almost totally free of tourists. I also remember staying at a pleasant hotel where the staff were just as friendly and helpful as Lonely Planet had promised me.

Bonjour Ana,

J'avais déjà remarqué cette belle photo ce matin sur facebook. Les ballons captent beaucoup l'attention apportent de la couleur, même si il y en a partout ailleurs. Beaucoup de vie dans l'ensemble.

apart from the attractive colours and the delightful impression created by the balloons, your picture gives us an interesting glimpse of daily life and creates some kind of intriguing contact with the vendor and the biker.
