Photographer's Note

I'm fairly certain the Taj Mahal doesn't require any explanation or description, we all know about this famous landmark and its history.

Its only my opinion, and feel free to disagree, but there are some famous tourist destinations that do stand up to their reputation. This was one for me. As Malgo pointed out in her critique, perhaps I was being too much of a pessimist, but I wanted to try and keep my excitement level low, not too high, incase I was disappointed.

We arrived very early in the morning, even before opening hours, waiting at the entrance gate before anyone else. It was a very smart choice to get here at opening hours, do not arrive late in the morning, you will be sorry you did so. The crowds were very much alive and probably annoying by noon, but for the first three or four hours early in the morning it was perfect!

There were 2 lineups starting to form. One was marked "locals", the other ticket line was for "tourists". Perhaps they were different prices too, i'm sure of it.

It didn't matter, we waited for approx 45 min as we arrived early, and once the gates were open, it was quite a magical feeling and experience. When you see something famous on TV, or in books your whole life, then you see it in person - its quite a feeling of excitement.

For me, the Taj Mahal didn't disappoint at all. In fact I wish I could have spent even more time here. Easily one of my all time favourite travel experiences.
