Photographer's Note

The vaishnava master Srila Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Maharaja is reciting the famous "Maha Mantra" (hare krishna, hare krishna, krishna krishna, hare hare, hare rama, hare rama, rama rama, hare hare) on the Japa Mala (=rosary beads for SILENT meditation)

the beads are generally made of the wood of a sacred plant, like tulasi or nim..

It is said that this way to count ripetitive prayers practiced in india from immemorial time with many mantras (someone chants "hare krsna", someone chants "om namah shivaya" and other prayers), is the origin of christian rosary

japa mala is 108 beads.. christian rosary is exactly the half... 54
