Sun rises on Neelkanth...
Mention the word "inhospitable" and BhaguaBasa comes to my mind... it was our next camp after the beautiful Bedni Bugyal on our way to Roopkund. After a trek of 12 kms over 6 hours, which included a steep climb of 4 kms, we finally found ourselves at BhaguaBasa at 4200 mts. There was snow all around and it was continuously snowing... we cleaned some area and pitched our tents. Temperature fell below zero in the evening and was around -10 during night...
There is a silver lining behind every dark cloud. For us, it was the awesome view we got next morning... right from Bandarpunch in the east, Bhagirathi, Kedarnath range and Chaukhamba to Neelkanth in the west... the most impressive being Badrinath peak Chaukhamba(Four Pillars) at 7200 mts...
The towering 6,600 m high Neelkanth peak is in the backdrop of Badrinath, one of the most revered Hindu shrines of India. Neelkanth, a pyramidal shaped towering snowy peak presents a dramatic sight. It is popularly known as the 'Garhwal Queen'.
Here is another view of Neelkanth , as seen from Badrinath.

This jumped out at me from the thumbnail, mainly because I have a very similar photo hanging in my home. My husband made a trek to Roopkund a few years ago.
Nice use of the early morning light to capture the majestic mountains. I wonder if you needed that much sky in the background?
