Sapporo Ghosts, a photo from Hokkaido, Hokkaido

Photographer's Note

This was a nighttime experiment. Using a monopod, the image was exposed for the wall in the background. The flash was used for 1/60 of a second, although the overall exposure was for 1/5 of a second. This was an experiement in nighttime photography, which is not my forte! Eveything in the image was done in camera and not in photoshop.

Lovely feeling emanatying from this layered ghost shot. I tried something a little bit like this a while ago (thing called "A man's life" I think...)

I like how the various ompositional elements work together, and most of all the incongruity between the "serious", not to say "grim" quotidien realities of the two in the foreground against the sacharine, tooth-aching sentimentality of the mural.

The best thing about TE is that it allows and encourages us to experiment with different forms. This may not be your forte but its not really obvious from this post. Infact I like the perspective. Well Done!

Excellent title, for a contemporary face of Japan, telling a lot in only one photo - I arrive a bit late, but I'll add this to my favorites...
