The sidewalk of a rainy day, a photo from Tokyo, Kanto

Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken in Harajuku early in December three years ago. Late autumn also passed and the leaf of the ginkgo tree planted in the roadside was also coloring the last yellow. On the sidewalk, as carpeted, fallen leaves were scattered. Unlucky rain made surrounding atmosphere much more sentimental. The person in character with office workers passed in the direction of NHK Broadcasting Center in rain, and went. I took this photograph from the footbridge crossed to the first gymnasium of Yoyogi.

This is a fine photo, nicely cropped, with a good atmosphere of late autumn. The two people are well captured as dark silhouettes and their blue umbrellas look very nice against the yellow leaves. The neat bushes and trees create a good diagonal which gives fine depth to the picture.

I like very much the long vertical frame that goes so well with the beautiful tall trees and the people's hurried movement at the corner. Although it has a bit of noise, I love the composition very much: the trees in diagonal creating perspective. the couple with the umbrellas in colors that contrast with the leaves. Very nice. TFS

This urban shot on rainy day is so catchy pulling the eyes in and your hawk eyes have spotted strong elements to transform this to such a successful picture. The small areas of black create such a powerful contrast against dominating yellow and the slight backlighting effect further adds to the sensation. A very fine shot and well taken with flawless treatment. Great, TFS

Not an easy task showing a pic. taken during rainy days, Mikio.
Yet, the yellow leaves on the trees & spread on sidewalk gave a wonderful texture for the image.
Fine taken the couple stride along, umbrelas on hands.
DOF is super, and vertical crop is adequate for this scene.
