A-bomb Dome & Sakura, a photo from Hiroshima, Chugoku

Hiroshima needs no introduction.

In Japanese culture, the short-lived cherry blossom (sakura) is symbolic of the ephemeral nature of life, so it seemed fitting to frame the A-Bomb Dome with sakura.

Walking around the Peace Memorial Park today, surrounded by delicate cherry blossom, people out for their Hanami (cherry blossom viewing) picnics, and reminders of the city's tragic past, was both soothing and surprisingly moving.

The exposure was 20sec.

I like very much. the first look at this shot, I said: it's happy! yes, it's happy the branch of sakura, are happy the lights inside the building!

well, in my town we found one or two american bombs unexploded for year. the last one two weeks ago. After 60 years!

I prefer thinking at the happy lights, at the happy (but ephemeral) flowers.

Great postcard, combining tragedy and the beauty of spring. The colour of the sakura goes well with the blue of the sky.

Very fine picture of this rare place here on TE with a great composition.
I only miss the blur on the cherry tree. Maybe you should have taken a shorter shutter speed, if possible !

That is surely a constrasting combination with the blossom and the A-Bomb dome. Very nice combination. A good note to it and the 20 seconds work very well here!!

a perfect shot of this abandon house in Hiroshima that is well lighted.I like the blossom branch of the cherry tree, that 'cover' the house so pleasantly.A great nocturne shot.Well done.

A beautiful shot of a good season of sakura blossom and in blue hour sky to contrast with stark reality of Hiroshima memory. A good combination.
