Photographer's Note
At the end of Kanazawa's cherry blossom season, the fallen petals lay in drifts against the kerbs and steps, and gathered in the laps of the Buddha statues in the grounds of a temple/shrine. It reminded me of a previous post, taken in Ayutthaya, Thailand, and I recreated that shot, which I've posted as a workshop. The workshop picture is "posed", of course, but in the main photo I promise the petals are exactly as I found them.
The lighting was horrible for the two days I was in Kanazawa - thick, thick cloud cover made midday feel like dusk. This shot was made even harder by trying to control the exposure for the pale petals against the dark, wet stone.
Okay you're looking, so the thumbnail caught your eye. Before you go please take three seconds to leave a comment - it's so disheartening to see the number of views go up but no comments. If the image doesn't work for you, please tell me WHY it doesn't work for you - I'm on this site because I'm trying to improve my photography! Thank you so much.

Hello Charlotte,
Good to bring this well framed view of the old Buddha statue, with all its erosion details and enlightened by the flower petals as a lively contrast
Regards,
Paul
