Mohinga is considered to be Myanmar's National dish. It is basically a fish broth with noodles, served with various accompaniments. It is traditionally eaten for breakfast although it can be (and is) eaten at any time of the day or night. A street vendor at dawn, selling mohinga to the market traders

Hello Elaine,
I didn't remember the name of the soup, but the ingredients sound familiar. This is a very good photo of the lady with the friendly and amused smile. The light falls perfectly on the smoke behind her which enhances the view of her head. It's also an interesting photo of all the items she uses for the breakfast preparation.

Dit is een zeer goede foto, nochtans in z/w.
Maar hoe mooi u de dame heeft geaccentueerd, tegen een licht wazige achtergrond.
Natuurlijk de lach van de dame fleurt uw ganse foto op

Hallo Elaine,
Mijn eerste idee was dat deze foto toch ergens binnen in huis genomen werd. Maar het is dus een straatopname.
Uitstekende en zeer aantrekkelijke foto waarbij de dame, de tafel en het eetgerief goed scherp getoond worden en de rook voor een wazige achtergrond zorgt.
De figuur van de zittende dame tekent zich mooi af tegen die rook.

Now that dish brings back memories - I first started cooking mohinga back in the 70s but haven't for a few years - I must cook it again (I was fortunate to be given a very authentic recipe).

Hello Elaine,

This street vendor seems to very much enjoying her work, or is she happy to be photographed?
It's a really sharp b&w photograph, the lady strongly positioned, off-centre and the f/g full of interesting articles involved with her work.
The b/g of smoke is so important, filling the rest of the frame with atmosphere!

I got to try some Burmese dishes in Kanchanaburi in Western Thailand adjacent to Myanamar. They were spicy to say the least! Tremendous b&w shot here with a wonderful tonal range and perfect sharpness. The bg smoke from the cooking fire adds mood. Tfs!
