Dhaulagiri, in the Annapurna Region of Nepal, is the worlds 7th highest mountain, topping out at 8167 m (26,795 ft), and while I have no desire to climb so high, to gaze upon the beautiful ferocity of these icy slopes has been a life-long dream.

Hello Alister - I read the story you directed us to and it made fascinating reading and I think in this instance it adds context to your shot. B&W does work well here and it was well worth opening the TN. The sharp detail on the sun flooded mountain is excellent and as I study the photograph the subtlety of tones becomes evident. I am pleased you directed me to your website, there is some superb work posted there which I shall enjoy at my leisure. Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Alister,
Dhaulagiri is one of the most beautiful and daunting mountains in the world. The south face shown here is one of the highest cliffs in the world and is still unclimbed. Your photo is masterly and poetic, making use of the low sunlight to bring out all the details against a black sky.
