Photographer's Note

It was a poltry shop in my neighbourhood, there Hashim Khan came daily for few hours to take care of things and for this labour he had a very small salary which was a one time meal and he was my best subject for time pass there in Quandahari Bazaar.

This is a fine environmental portrait, beautifully framed in order to show something of the background details. I guess he knew you were taking the photograph, but this does not detract from the image at all, as his expression is in no way embarrassed or posy.

Great character study. Terrific composition and exposure, showing the craftsman inside the shop. With the pottery objects for sale on the door, this shows a good slice of life in Pakistan.
