Photographer's Note
in sea (except in muslim areas where they are traditionally considered impure) you can hardly snap a shot without a dog in the frame. they were aplenty on the streets of bontoc as well untill i came across this sign, which i thought would be funny with a canine. i waited and waited...., (my big backpack on) still not one showed up. i stuck around for a good half an hour (missing two jeepneys to my next destination) till this little fellow finally trotted about. i think dogs can read in northern luzon :-)

Strange what you say, Mark, for my part, I haven't seen so many dogs as in Indonesian or Malaysian Borneo villages... Mengkabong village in Sabah, at dusk, is where I had the sole use of my tripod in my trips (for nosy dogs whacking purpose).
I can understand the idea within your image but I think this is not obvious enough in trems of composition to really make it. Firtsly the reading dog is way too far on the left side, my eyes don't grab it at first sight, then it's hiding behind its tail, which is another bother for the reading.
...then perhaps it lacks the little something that would make this shot stand out : an old filipino sleeping on a rocking chair outside?
Sorry Mark, i do understand the idea but I wish it weren't so empty at first sight.

Hi Mark. indeed a funny photo. maybe the dog is cosidering it... like how people donate blood. a person would add a lot to the shot, but just taken as humor and a funny scene, you did caught it well.

it is true you don't see the dog initially, but then you wonder and find him, hidden in the corner so you get the pleasure of discovering eventually. Wrks quite well with the sign. I however do nto understand why you kept that half sign on the top. It seems to me you should either keep it all, take it all out, or keep the restaurant name only...
amicalement, michel.
