Photographer's Note

While standing on Panacalan Island, a charming white sandbar, armed with a point&shoot, I took this shot. Exactly on the other side from where I was is a declared 45-ha fish sanctuary (FS). We were on assignment to coordinate a media visit to the FS being taken cared of by two barangays Macaleeng and Sablig of the town of Anda. Together with my office, the BFAR-FRMP, the Local Government's Municipal Agricultural Office, the NGO UPSARDF and the communities of the said villages this project came to life (I beg your indulgence, credits have to be made). Another testimony to how the nature-loving people of Anda put their beliefs to work.

And now others are taking notice..major dailies have had several coverage as it is becoming a showcase of good practice for the coastal environment and recently, the media group that did part of their episode with Anda won an international award.

On a personal note, this photo is also significant as I was then on my way to my tenth year at work. This perspective, the small bamboo raft going out to sea also aptly desribed the journey that I took with photography later that year and still am taking.
