Photographer's Note
Got a week day-off from work and grabbed that opportunity to explore the mountains which is up in the northern region of the Philippines.
This Terraces were taken along the road on my way to another province up north. Definitely the most stunning drives I've ever experienced in my country. Weather was a bit cloudy, but lucky me, the sun flickered every now and then illuminating some parts of the terraces giving it a nice vibrant green glow.
Bay-yu or Bay-yo Terraces is one of the numerous terraces you can see located in Mountain Province, Cordillera Region of the Philippines.

Hello Matt
What a gorgeous view indeed. The way the sun illuminates the terraces and the houses is superb. Not to mention the resourcefulness of mankind of turning even the steepest of hills in a fertile and profitable landscape.
have a great sunday

Hi Mat,
amazing place and very beautifully taken picture. I like tighter framing which focuses just on the terraces. The slope has been placed in the composition very nicely with some part of it staying in shade and some exposed more to the light. The colors are natural yet very saturated and the small houses scattered over the fields make the image more interesting.
Well done! Thanks for sharing

Hi Matt
A breath taking wide view and a tremendous feel of depth we've got here filled by the wonderful rich green shades of amazing patterns in the fields and the lovely recession in the background. I feel the dash of warm light hitting the fields has extremely vitalised and heightening the total beauty making lots of diff than ordinary shot. The recognizable brightly houses are beautifully placed and so important to the composition as good scale reference. Indeed a wonderful man made landscape, great in tones, gentle shadows, clarity and contrast. Definitely worth your trip and effort Matt. What a delight! and tfs

Hi Matt - Wow the lush greenness is so lovely and for me, living in what is essentially a dry place, I find myself drawn more and more to verdant landscapes.
A fine shot. I like the composition with the frame packed with vegetation and no sky to be seen. It adds to the impact I think.
Hope all is well.
Warm regards Rosemary

The variation in light is really attractive here, Matt - the terraces themselves seem to brighten the closer they get to the camera, creating a really natural path for the eye. There have been quite a few rice terrace shots on TE recently, and I'm amazed at the myriad different ways people have found to shoot them, so that every shot seems unique. Beautiful work here.

Hello Matt,
Wonderful rice terraces! Is that close to Banaue (where I've been long time ago)?
I like the different tones of green and yellow and the contrast between the sunlit terraces and the dark forested mountain slope.
Best regards, Paul

Hola dear Matt
Ooooh this is lovely. The terraces are like something you could see in Cinque Terre and I just love the light which turns the greenery almost gold. Stunning textures and depth. A really beautiful photo, superbly executed as usual.
All the best, I hope you're well

Hello Matt, the sun has really brought out the 'Stairway' and all its details.
The composition is spot on using the rule of thirds. The darker wooded area complements the bright green of the terraces.
Regards Jean.
