An elder from Paracelis tribe during the Lang-Ay festival in Bontoc, Mountain Province - one of the biggest festivals in the area, where seven hill tribes come down to gather and celebrate.

It's very sad that a really strong portrait such as this has attracted no attention, despite 95 viewings. OK it's in monochrome, and I've found that b/w postings seldom attract as much notice as colour: I suspect that the majority of people on this site favour picture postcards! But this is a great image: nice and tightly framed, an appropriately serious expression caught, and his finery is seriously impressive. This is a fine documentary, ethnographic photograph.
