Photographer's Note

Taken from Dakak Beach Resort during a national office workshop.

Located at Brangay Taguilon, Dakak is one of the famous destinations in the area. 750-hectare of private whitesand beach (though there are stories that this is not its natural setting) with lush forested area. I specially relish the hammocks found at the beach front especially after a hearty and generous buffet of fresh seafoods, frutis, local and continental dishes. The resort staff also provide very well prepared entertaiment music numbers to while your evening by the lowtide beach.

Notable also is the little chapel tucked within the forest area. I am going back there to take some real decent shots next time.

A 15-minute drive will take you also to a nearby historical Jose Rizal shrine where our national hero spent a number of years in exile (banished by the Spanish colonizers who were then in power) and left a legacy that to this day is held dear by the people of Dapitan.

Dakak is also near the provinces of Cebu and Dumaguete, two other great destinations in the Visayas and Mindanao. We usually travel via Dipolog City.

And to think I almost missed shooting this. The trip came at a most difficult time. When the bone and the spirit have been crushed, you would rather not be part of anything. And peace is such a strange word. But the call is grace and to go and be present is also grace.

Deep peace of the running wave to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the shining stars to you,
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you.
