Christmas sunset, a photo from Moscow, Center

Photographer's Note

Not far from from Moscow, in the small city Dzerzhinsky there is the big and picturesque monastery of Saint Nikolas which named Nikolo-Ugreshsky. The cloister's history begins from 1380 and then was very complex and complicated. During the Soviet era in was closed and the labor commune was esteblished on its place. Finally it was reopened and restored nowadays. The church which you can see on the picture is rised on 2001-02 in memory of reverend Pimen Ugreshsky who was one of the cloister's abbots and was buried under this place. It was taken in the coldest evening of the year (it was about -18C) but it was recompenced with the nicest sunset. Hope you like that.

I like much this soft light on this orthodox church! The frozen tree branches are making a natural frame aroun the church.

wonderfull christmas postcard! I love tender pink and yellow light that fills in the whole shot - taking over the sky, relfecting in the snow, dying the church and playing in the snow-covered branches.
