The domes of the colourful church of St. Demetrios on the Blood in Uglich, Russia.

During the reign of Ivan the Terrible, ownership of Uglich was passed to his only brother, Yuriy. The town prospered economically and politically throughout the 16th century, but later went into a decline. After the death of Ivan the Terrible, his youngest son Dmitry Ivanovich was exiled to Uglich in 1584. On 15th May 1591, Ivan’s ten-year old son was found dead in the palace courtyard – his throat had been cut. Boris Godunov, the tsar’s chief advisor was the main suspect, but official investigators gave their verdict of accidental death. Dmitry Ivanovich was the last link of the Rurik dynasty and his death resulted in the dynastic and political crisis that came to be known as the 'Time of Troubles'. The Romanov tsars turned Uglich into a place of pilgrimage. In 1690 the church of St. Demetrios on the Blood was built on the spot where Dmitry had been murdered.

Bonjour Paul,
très lumineuse cette photo, où les bleus et les rouges se disputent la vedette avec peut-être une courte victoire pour les bleus.
Une belle contre plongée qui donne du panache à ces tours, le doré scintillant en ajoute encore.
J'aime ce cadrage qui convient très bien.

This church is so spectacular in shape and colours that it almost has a touch of Disneyland. It looks superb from this POV, and the golden spires below the crosses really shine against the blue sky.

Rood, wit en blauw in een foto: op de een of andere manier heb ik daar iets mee.
Op deze prachtige compositie komt dat weer eens mooi tot z'n recht.
Het spel van licht en schaduw en de reflectie in het goud maken het helemaal af.

...More precisely, his chest was wounded by the knife. One version was that Dmitry, who was suffering from epilepsy, had a seizure and falled on the knofe, with wich he was playing with other kids; another was that he was assasinated.
Well anyway, it's a good photo! You was lucky with the weather also, for sure.
