Photographer's Note
A view of Sottintsy, the wooden architecture museum of Yakutia. It is situated on the opposite bank of Lena River downstream from Yakutsk. In winter, it is supposed to be one hour drive. In Summer it is a bit longer, while crossing the river and sailing on it can take hours. The second house is amazing. It is a gift from Austrian cooperation... Concrete walls are very thin. Heating is made by electricity. In very hot summers, concrete keep the heat during the night, and you cannot open windows due to mosquitoes. In winter, I think the walls cannot stop any cold. Probably, this was built to show how relevant were loghouses. At least, it was my feeling as I woke up in this "guest house" one morning of July 2010.
